Quality control has long been a concern of the CPA profession. CPAs that are members of the AICPA are required to undergo regular peer reviews of their systems for maintaining quality in their accounting practices. These reviews, conducted by practitioners from other CPA firms, scrutinize the procedures used by the firm under review to determine that its work meets applicable professional standards.
Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) are professionals, distinguished from other accountants by stringent licensing requirements. They must have a college degree or its equivalent, pass a rigorous two day national examination and meet certain experience requirements to qualify for a state license. After obtaining a state license, CPAs are required to complete one hundred and twenty hours of continuing education every three years and submit representative financial statements to the State Board of Accountancy for quality review every two years. In addition to meeting the profession's technical requirements, CPAs are governed by a strict code of professional ethics, which stresses independence, integrity, objectivity, technical competence, and adherence to professional standards. |
